Shop Foreman
General Position Information
Department : Boreal Woodwork - Millwork and Cabinetry
Reports to : Millwork Division Manager
Hours : Typically 7:30 – 4:30, Monday – Friday (40–45 hour weeks)
Compensation :Hourly wage (based on experience) + cell phone stipend, mileage reimbursement, paid overtime

Who we are looking for: A passionate, detailed leader to oversee the fabrication of projects as they move through our custom millwork and cabinetry shop. This individual should have extensive experience working in the field of cabinetmaking and/or millwork installation and is comfortable leading a team while also collaborating with project managers, engineers and installers. Preference will be given to someone who has an understanding of the full scope of the work from creating a cut list to final installation.

Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and manage daily shop operations, ensuring smooth workflow and adherence to production schedules.
- Collaborate with project management and production engineer to align shop workload with project timelines.
- Create and maintain a detailed weekly calendar, including deadlines and production goals
- Train and develop shop employees in specialized skills and safety protocols.
- Develop standard operating procedures. Identify common processes and standardize the procedure and outcomes. Train others on SOP’s to ensure streamlined consistency of fabrication.
- Implement quality control measures to maintain high standards in production.
- Manage shop supplies, coordinating with procurement for timely reordering.
- Oversee shipping and receiving (self performed or training of others). Shipping entails coordinating with Finisher to get product to their shop and coordinating with PM to send finished materials to site for installation.
- Oversee shop maintenance and equipment servicing to ensure operational efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with workplace safety regulations and company policies.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains.
- Maintain accurate records of production performance and material usage.
- 7+ years of experience in a millwork or manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of woodworking, fabrication techniques, and CNC operations.
- Experience with production scheduling and workflow optimization.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills.
- Knowledge of workplace safety.
- Production efficiency and meeting project deadlines.
- Quality control and defect rate reduction.
